Dear Almond families,

Two of our Almond families have thoughtfully organized an ofrenda (altar) that is on display outside the office through Monday, November 2.
What is Día de los Muertos?

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a tradition that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed away. Ofrendas are decorated with meaningful items such as sugar skulls, food, candles, marigold flowers, and photographs. These offerings reflect the love, respect, and cherished memories we hold for those who are no longer with us.

Families are welcome to participate by sharing photos of loved ones who have passed away, along with a small item that represents them. We are grateful to our families for sharing this meaningful tradition with our Almond community!

ILLUMINATE LASD

What happens when students lead their own learning and dive deeply into a question that matters to them, and share their voices in powerful ways? Illuminate LASD invites students to become experts, innovators, and change-makers. Whether it’s researching a topic they’re passionate about, solving a problem that inspires them, or creating something to make an impact, students will share the artifacts that highlight the learning process. From TK to 8th grade, Illuminate LASD invites students to share what they now know and can do by sharing the process and products of their learning on Friday, February 26th from 4:00PM - 7:00PM.

Register today to participate and submit an Intent Form by November 18th by visiting https://tinyurl.com/illuminateLASD. We invite you to share in this experience that connects student curiosity, creativity, and agency!

Our school is still looking for a parent lead for this event so if you are interested in this role, please contact Raquel Matteroli at rmatteroli@lasdschools.org.

Reminders for tomorrow!
Don't forget to join us tomorrow at 9am on the Almond blacktop for our Annual Almond Halloween Parade and then at 5:30 for our Annual Trunk or Treat event in the Almond parking lot!

Here’s to honoring traditions, celebrating our community, and shining a light on student learning!

PTA Volunteer Spotlight

This month’s volunteer spotlight goes to 7 moms who went above and beyond with their time and resources to treat us to delicious food at the Walk-a-thon! We are forever grateful to the generosity of these moms and their culinary abilities! Thank you to Martha Hernandez, Fernanda Gonzalez, Maria Ramos, Emilia Cortez, Avigail Ramirez, Laidy Mendez & Anabel Covarrubias!

You may recognize the beverage stand being repurposed at school this week as an ofrenda (alter table) for Día de los Muertos!

Trunk or Treat is tomorrow Oct 30th!

Our 5th graders are hosting the 3rd annual trunk or treat and they need our help! We have many families who have generously signed up to decorate their cars and pass out treats. This event creates a safe place for students to trunk or treat and families to hang out. Put on costumes and come check out this fun event in the Almond parking lot.

Tickets on sale for Almond Musical Performance – Matilda Jr.

Don't miss our very own Almond 3rd-6th graders as they perform the musical Matilda Jr. in the Almond Multi from Fri Nov 13- 15. Tickets can be purchased in the ClassroomParent store.

Walk-a-thon Event Survey

Help us make next year’s event even better! Take a few minutes to answer our survey. Thank you!

🏅 Attend next week’s Wednesday assembly to see who gets medals for top fundraising, volunteering parents/staff and staff! Spoiler alert! We raised over $15,000 so Mrs. Matteroli will be attending in a fun costume!
