Title:
Transitional Kindergarten Teacher
Lisa Schubert

My name is Lisa Schubert, and I am a Transitional Kindergarten Teacher at Almond Elementary.  I earned a BA and 2 teaching credentials in college. I have also taught a Pre-School Special Education class, First Grade, and Second Grade.  I also teach art every summer.  I truly love teaching young children.
My philosophy is that young children learn through play and also by using their imagination.  Every year I strive to create a classroom environment where students feel safe to be creative, learn and grow, make mistakes and do “re-dos”, and reach their maximum potential.  In addition to academics, each day we concentrate on developing and practicing social and emotional skills. Communication and friendships are key components of my classroom.  I look forward to teaching each day and can often be found preparing for the next week in my classroom on the weekends.  If you see the light on in room 2 during a weekend please knock on the door to say hello!
In my free time I enjoy doing yoga, gardening, reading, swimming, snowboarding, and scuba diving.  I am looking forward to getting my Dive Master’s Certification next year so that I can teach children and adults to scuba dive.  I live with my teenage son and 2 cats in downtown Los Altos and treasure spending time with my family and friends. My son attended Almond, Egan, and Los Altos High School and Foothill and Berkeley and he now lives in the hills and works in Mountain View We love being part of the community.  I adore seeing my current and previous students around town and although I have always had the rule that once a student grows taller than me they can call me “Lisa”  they still always want to call me “Ms. Schubert”.
