Hot Lunch Program

The Hot Lunch Program is a service of the Almond PTA and offers lunch five days a week to children in grades 1 through 6. The program is a major source of revenue to help fund PTA projects at Almond, and is made possible through the efforts of our many wonderful parent volunteers. The Almond PTA thanks you for your support!

Hot lunches must be pre-ordered and pre-paid.

Almond has partnered with Taste Nutrition Services for the 2009-2010 school year to provide our students with healthy, balanced and nutritious lunches. Each lunch includes a main entrée, fresh fruit AND vegetables, and a choice of milk or water. There will be 3 choices every day: a hot entrée, a vegetarian entrée, and a cold entrée (sandwich or salad).

Some new features for the coming school year:

  • Sessions will run on a monthly basis with the option of ordering for up to three months;
  • New user-friendly website for placing orders;
  • Orders may be placed for multiple children with only one check-out;
  • The Hot Lunch program will be supporting two local businesses, De Martini Orchard and Spot’s Pizza.

Detailed information will be sent out via email over the summer. Hot lunches must be pre-ordered and pre-paid.

Please note that even returning parents will need to (re)register on the Taste system.

If you are interested in being a Hot Lunch volunteer, or have questions about a shift assignment, please contact Cindy Labuda, PTA Hot Lunch Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer!

Our Parent Volunteer Program is coordinated by the Almond PTA. Volunteers work in various capacities to assist the school in providing a better education for students. Some ways in which volunteers assist are: working with small groups and individuals under the direction of the teacher, assisting with field trips, and helping in the library. Working parents can help behind the scenes with telephoning, book orders, or baking. Classroom needs are shared by teachers on “Back To School” Night. Almond parents contributed over 30,000 volunteer hours last year, and it is this time commitment which enables our school to remain competitive nationwide despite California budgetary constraints. Volunteering is a great way to get to know members of the Almond community.
