Almond School PTA – Get Involved

Attend a PTA Meeting

A great way to be involved with the activities and programs that benefit your child is by participating in the PTA. PTA meetings are generally held on the second Thursday or Friday of each month, alternating evening and morning meetings. Meetings are held in the Almond School library. All teachers and parents are welcome!

Our PTA goals for 2009-2010 are ambitious, but entirely achievable with your help. So please…

Join the PTA

Last year over 80% of the Almond families joined our PTA. Let’s go for 100% this year. You can drop by any PTA meeting throughout the year and join the team!

The Almond Parent Teacher Association (PTA) welcomes you to the 2009-2010 school year and invites you to join our PTA. As a member, you will have the opportunity to get involved in large or small ways at Almond School, meet other parents, and vote on PTA related activities. Anyone can become a member upon payment of $15 dues to the Almond PTA. Larger (tax-deductible) donations are welcome and provide additional support.

Your PTA membership will:

  • Support your child by bringing parents and teachers together to promote the education, health, safety and well-being of Almond students. PTA provides volunteer hours and financial support for things such as Hot Lunch, Running Club, the Conflict Resolution program, playground balls and equipment, and special assemblies.
  • Support our teachers. PTA coordinates room parents and classroom volunteers. PTA pays for seminar/class fees for the continuing education of teachers, and also provides a stipend to each teacher for classroom supplies and teaching materials. PTA provides computers and software for the classroom, and funds additional hours for classroom aides.
  • Support Almond families. PTA publishes the Almond School Directory and organizes fun family events such as the Walkabout, the Talent Show, a Science Night and the Halloween Carnival.
  • Support enrichment opportunities at Almond School. PTA facilitates the Art Docent Program, the CTC Theatre program, the Almond Chorus, and special events such as International Day and Colonial Day. PTA funds the Computer Lab (hardware/software) and the Primary Grades Music Program. PTA coordinates volunteers for the Library program.

And much more!

It is never too late to join the PTA. Our goal is 100% participation. for more information.

Volunteer

Almond parents contribute in excess of 30,000 volunteer hours each year and it is this time commitment which enables our school to remain competitive nationwide, despite California budgetary constraints. We urge you to get involved, and look forward to working with you during the school year. If you’d like to volunteer for a specific event or activities, please contact the chairperson for that activity. This list is available in the Events & Activities section of our site.
